Preppi Chatbot
Result of the short-term project "Artificial Creativity" with Tom-Lucas Säger at HTW Berlin – University of Applied Sciences.
Preppi is a chatbot designed to help you find out if the pre-exposure prophylaxis (or PrEP) for HIV is right for you. PrEP has been proven to reduce the risk of infection with HIV from sex by up to 99% and is recommended for all gay men with frequently changing sexual partners as well as sex workers and other groups.
A lot of people are ashamed to see their doctor about STI prevention and even finding the right doctor who has knowledge about PrEP can prove to be quite difficult. There are a some counseling centers but visiting these is also connected with feelings of shame for lots of people. Also, these counseling centers are more concentrated in big cites like Berlin, where there are a lot of them but especially in rural areas of Germany there are few to none of those queer counseling centers specialising on STI testing and advice.
Preppi can be accessed from the web via text on telegram and via voice on Google Assistant and provides basic facts about PrEP: First it can explain how it works, then it can also go through a quick questionnaire to find out if you're ready to get the PrEP.
With this project, I aimed to take away a big hurdle of trying to get counseling concerning STI prevention especially among young queer people.
