About me
Hey, I'm Niklas, a photographer & graphic designer from Berlin.
My work focuses on issues such as the marginalisation of people as well as queer politics & activism. I reflect on the societal standing of marginalised people, subvert common prejudice and clichés about them and undermine the viewer’s expectations about these groups of people through photography.
Often I work with people who are on the fringes of society or do not conform to the usual norms. I believe that photography is a powerful medium to promote empathy, to break down prejudice and to foster mutual understanding.
A close relationship with my subjects whom I accompany and portray over time, is what my photographic practice is based on. I work primarily with natural light and a documentary aesthetic that captures the lived realities of the people I photograph without distorting or idealizing them. My goal with my photography is to contribute to a more open and diverse society.
